A must attend for anyone who currently has Medicare! Some of the topics to be discussed are options in dealing with the “donut hole” (coverage gap), updates on changes in Medicare, changes in the Medicare Prescription Drug plans which may necessitate your selection of a new plan, and instruction on selecting your prescription drug plan. Depending on income, seniors may qualify for assistance in covering their prescription drug costs.

The physical aspects of care are covered in this workshop, offering techniques and tips for those providing care in the home for a family member. Many caregivers don't realize there are products and services to help with home care. Participants will receive practical information on adapting a home to make it safer for a person with chronic illness, working with wheelchairs and the mechanics of assisting someone to sit, stand, or transfer.

Learn who pays for what, the benefits of private insurance, and what you can expect from government programs. This class is appropriate for all – even those with loved ones already receiving long-term care.

Whatever the reasons, living in different housing does not mean that you cannot be a good caregiver. When providing services to older persons who have limitations in their mobility and multiple needs, the type of housing and living arrangements you choose become critical keys in assuring they get the care they need. Housing and care in this instance go hand in hand.
